Alex de la Iglesia, an icon of
contemporary cinema, will attend the Festival de Letras de San Luis
Potosí, May 8-12.
The writer and filmmaker will
speak with the public at the Capilla de Aranzazú, on Thursday, May
10, at 7 pm. De la Iglesia's new film, "La chispa de la vida" will
be shown at the event which is open to the public and free of
charge. The film stars Spanish actor José Mota and Mexican actress
Salma Hayek.
Alex de la Iglesia has crossed over
and out of Spain´s borders with his numerous films, including:
Acción Mutante (1991), El día de la bestia (1995), Perdita Durango
(1997), Muertos de Risa (1999), La comunidad (2000), 800 balas
(2002), Crimen ferpecto (2004), Los crímenes de Oxford (2008),
Balada triste de trompeta (2010) and La chispa de la vida
(2011).
His films have important
links with reality, even in their most fantastic aspects. In "La
chispa de la vida," the characters are more real and down to earth
than ever. As such, it is far more difficult for parody to be
implemented in this area.
