Equestrian culture and the legends
of 19th century Arabian deserts are the basis of the plot of the
new musical "El ultimo jinete"(The last Horseman), a production by
Andrés Vicente Gómez which will be open to the public in the
theater houses of el Canal from December 5 to January 6.
The work, conceived to premiere
first in Madrid and then in London, and produced in both cities, is
directed by Víctor Conde and written by Ray Loriga.
Andrés Vicente Gómez showed up
today at the Canal Theaters with his wife, the journalist Concha
GarcíaCampoy, who also participated in the project and in a
symbolic act purchased the first ticket of the musical.
"El ultimo jinete" is an ambitious
production with lots of fantasy that digs into the culture of the
people of old Arabia and their passion for horses.
Starring, amongst others, Leandro
Rivera, Miquel Fernández and Marta Ribera, most notorious actors in
the musical genre, the work tells the story of a young Bedouin
called Tiradh who is searching for the horse of his dreams.
He travels to Victorian London on
the trail of a beautiful woman who has taken the steed he is
seeking, during which he will get to know better both his homeland
and himself.
The show will portray the armed
conflicts and tribal wars of this part of the Middle East and North
Africa (Egypt) as well as the society and atmosphere of Victorian
London, with a wide variety of fantastic and legendary ingredients,
that go, said the organizers today, "from future armies and dancing
camels to chattering locusts and warriors from the past."
